Howdy Y'all
My My. I sure hope that everyone is having a great summer seeing music, hanging with family and just doing all that makes them smile. I have had a great summer so far and that is why the blog has been on the low side. I saw Phish 6 times in June and just got down working the Rothbury Music Festival. I am a booth coordinator for a non profit. Also have squeezed in some music at the local venues. Ain't life grand

So I have been lobbying Jeremy at the Bag to get Greensky Bluegrass http://www.greenskybluegrass.com/ to town. It is finally happening. Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!They are playing this Saturday with special guests, our own Back Forty!!!http://www.backfortymusic.com/
So Miko, tells us more about Greensky. Well they used to be kinda local. They hailed from Western Michigan and played the Ann Arbor scene for quite a while. They are now considered one of the premier bluegrass/jamgrass bands in the land. They have won the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest in 2006, and regularly play with the likes of Tim Carbone from Railroad Earth, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan.Bill Nershi and Keith Mosely from String Cheese Incident,Del McCourey and his sons Ronny and Robbie, David Grishman and the Punch Brothers. But honestly they can stand alone. They have been tearing up the festy scene making appearances at the Allgood Festival, Rothbury, Langerado and Bonnaroo. They also play traditional bluegrass festivals. This is a must see band if you enjoy traditional bluegrass. But they are known to take some of jamband favorites, classic rock songs and even some Michael Jackson and give it there own extended play workover
I must also give a little plug for my friends Back Forty. http://www.backfortymusic.com/bio.html. I first laid eyes on them about four years ago. They had been playing the Ann Arbor/Ypsi scene and I had heard so much about them. They played a hootenanny with my friends the Ragbirds and Rootstand. When I saw them, I was hooked. When Colin plays the fiddle, you just want to rage. Dan on guitar and Andy on Mando/Guitar are the cat's meow. Now they play funkgrass so there are going to get you bumpin' and reelin'
Here's the best. My dear friend Willy Wilson from the Bag is allowing yours truly to offer 2 sets of a pair of tickets to this show to the first 2 people that reply to the email/blog. The show is Saturday July 11th. Tickets are 10 dollars and doors are at 8 pm.
